Replacement turbo and now a bypass valve are going in on Friday, still a little too hot to hit up the local track but more time to get things finished and tested for next year.
Got one sent, definitely feels like it has excessive play and makes a clicking noise checking lateral movement along with grinding when rotating even by hand slowly. At least it is summer and track time is on hold so perfect timing for a fix!
Welp it was fun while it lasted, by my beta RV-660 turbo looks like it developed a little play in the turbo shaft. Trying to get a good dial indicator to measure play but not a lot of room in the engine area.
I thought the grinding noise I heard at first was condenser and radiator fan play...
I've seen bumper mounted splitters fall off on the highway (i bought mine from someone who had that happen) so on track its possible. You could replace the push clips with nuts and bolts with washers for more holding power but that may have its own caveats.
It would most likely survive right up...
I got curious and checked because Battle Aero was a setup I looked at for a splitter, looks like they have both the bumper and chassis mount options, unless its the same splitter for both, in which case buy the brackets later.
I also concur that you just take it off for the first few track days...
Awesome job, guess I have to make my way out that direction and come play next year! Hopefully I'll have more stuff dialed in to try for a full SLB and GTA season.
Doing a final track day in AZ this weekend before it gets hotter than it already is, can't wait to only do 3 laps before needing to cool off.
So fun tracking at 90F at 8AM.
There are a couple that do cover time trials, really the best thing to do is reach out before an event and see what is all covered. Hagerty and Open Track are ones I know offer various options depending on what you are doing.
Also should add, track insurance is for more than just the cars, it can also help cover clean up and damage costs to track facilities. I know COTA last year for Super Lap someone dumped oil for about half the track and the organizer had to pay out of pocket since no driver that session admitted...
Definitely watching this now, I want to see how this setup works compared to a full turbo kit from Rampage or Full Race. Plus I need time to save up that 4piston money!
This was my set up I had for SLB which is pretty standard for my in car minus a few cables (this was for livestreaming.) Beyond that I have GoPro mounts on both front and rear tow hooks.
