Here is my question:

if I have a TCM from a 2017 civic sport hatch and plan to swap it in my same exact year and model. The #’s on the module also align.
Will this be plug and play? Or do I have to go to the Honda dealer and pay them reprogram it?

Pretty positive you have to wite the vin to it. Can be done with an advanced diagnostic tool with dealer functions, repair shop, or the Honda dealer.

The TCM should just be a simple swap. I swapped TCMs to go from a EX CVT TCM w/o paddle shifters to Touring CVT with paddle shifters after wiring in paddle shifters on my car. Works fine with no issues on my car and didn't have to do any VIN writing, etc.

So here are some details.
1st step. Remove batttery and battery tray.
Remove hose into throttle body.
Remove 3 10mm screws
Direct swap of TCM MODULE. No program required and no vin# stuff needed. Flashed with new phearable custom tune.
Drove around and my Cvt shifts like brand new. I had some weird slips after installing a new transmission around 3-4k rpm. This fixed my issue and phearable helped with diagnosing and couldn’t be more happy with his customer support.

FYI. It was a direct plug and play and didn’t need programming. VIN did not need to be allocated to it.
