When you go to the track for autocross, HPDE, or Time Attack what are your must have items with you? I'm talking about things that make your day that much more enjoyable, and safe.

Items I Would Have:
Canopy
Chair
Helmet
Gloves
Jack
Cooler
Tools
Tire Inflator
Tire Pressure Gauge

youve nailed most of it. sometimes I bring a bluetooth speaker and charging brick with me. being out on a track all day and having stuff die on you isnt fun.

I bring my GPS unit so I can track lap times. Snacks, water bottle. Sometimes I like to chew gum when im driving because it helps me focus. Spare underwear for code brown moments?

Usually I try to pack everything into a tote to make unloading/loading the car a quick job and my stuff stays dry if it's raining while I'm out on track.

Usually I bring in a tote:
  • Tire pressure gauge
  • Snack food
  • Jack stand
  • Roll of shop towels
  • Can of brake clean
  • Torque wrench
  • Lug nut socket
  • Wheel chock
  • Spare sensors + ignition coil
  • Gloves for wrenching
  • Brake bleeder bottle
  • Quart of engine oil
  • Pint of brake fluid
  • Couple of lights
On good days I only need the pressure gauge, torque wrench and snacks haha. Helmet and driving gloves don't leave the car when I'm at the track.

Other than that I have a jack, small tool box and water which don't need to go in the tote.

I will admit to being a neophyte when it comes to track days so forgive the dumb question.....are folks generally comfortable leaving unsecured tools in the paddock while on the track?

For the most part, yes. People at these events are usually in it for the right reasons and if someone sees something sketchy, they aren't afraid to say something about it.

Understandable question. I had the same question my first couple of events.

I've been doing track days for about 7 years and have never seen anything stolen at the track. People are pretty respectful and everyone is there for the same reason, to have a good time. For the most part the general public is pretty ignorant of racetracks so you don't ever see people there looking to snatch stuff.

Plus if you are planning to steal stuff you probably donā€™t want to pay entrance fee. I like to bring moving blanket so if I need to alter suspension I am not doing it on the floor with a pebbles annoying me.

For autocross this is my list I post to our FB group regularly.

If itā€™s your first event, make sure you bring the following:
  • Helmet (limited loaners available)
  • Car Numbers (or painters tape in a contrasting color to your car)
  • Water, Snacks, Lunch (Closest food is a 10 min drive).
  • Hat and Sunscreen

Helpful items youā€™ll see many people have, but arenā€™t required:
  • Air Pressure Gauge (To adjust tire pressure between runs)
  • Tire Pump (To refill tires at the end of the day, or before runs)
  • Water Sprayer (To keep tires cool between runs on hot days)
  • Second set of tires + Jack/stands (If you are changing wheels/tires at the event)
  • Bike/Scooter (really helpful to get around)
  • Bin to put everything from your car in (you need the car empty, so all the loose tools/water bottles/jackets have a bin to get stored in)

I don't have a type r, but i bring with me
-Helmet
-Extra Fluids
-Two Jacks
-Jack stands
-Tools(My portable tool box with everything i or someone could need, and a torque wrench)
-Canopy
-Driving shoes
-Cooler(Basically my work lunch bag) with water, and protein bars as a quick snack.
-Sun hat, for obvious reasons
-spf
-12v tire inflator
-tire pressure gauge
-camera to get some shots while I'm watching other run groups
-portable mini jump box(case I or someone else needs a jump, but it mainly serves as a battery bank)
-two spares
-basic cleaners, to keep the windshield clean
I know it is more than necessary but it all fits perfect in the car and takes about 10 minutes to unpack and pack so not a huge deal, and thats also including my quick disconnect sound system for the drive to the track.

People got you pretty well covered. Nothing that I bring that someone hasn't already mentioned except since I wear a fire suit I also bring shorts, a t-shirt and slides/sandals.

Hi Everyone,
My USAA auto insurance doesn't cover me on a track. Which company say besides Hagerty do you guys use or better recommend?
