  1. Am I the only one that hates the stock airbox?

Anytime I have to change the filter I get ready for a battle. I hate the bloody thing so much. Is it just me? The airbox and the dipstick, whoever designed it should be tossed off a cliff
  2. Don’t forget those engine air filters!

28,000 km since I changed the last one. OEM as always. Guess the wildfires weren’t so nice.
  3. Swapping front pads for HPDE/track day

Looking to do 4-5 HPDE's per year with my FK8 in the upcoming seasons. I like the OEM brake pads feel for street, don't mind the dust. Apart from a different set of wheels and brake fluid, I'm planning on OEM rear brake pads Swapping front pads to a track ready pad, EBC RP1/RPX. NOT...
  4. Blank Rotors available

Most rotors that are aftermarket have been drilled. Rockauto is stocking a solid blank rotor from Dynamic Friction for $100 CAD. It only appears on the 2020-2021 model years, but should fit all 17-21. Brakes DYNAMIC FRICTION 60459065
  5. A/C Compressor Failures - CivicX Hatchbacks vs rest

The recent warranty extension on the compressor HVAC seal states North American refrigerant damages the seals. This got me thinking....since the hatchback were build in England, was the European refrigerant less harmful to the seals?
  6. The single best most to the Type R is ….

Not Hondata. FL5 wheels + 255/35 tires. The added compliance is amazing, with practically no effect on the steering feel. FL5 and FK8 wheels are both ET60.
  7. My warranty expired today

3 years to the day of purchase. The car knows too. The radio crashed on the start of my drive home. It stayed wonky, and refused to reboot until I got home too. The Universe works in mysterious ways…
  8. 255/35 or 265/35 for R19 FL5 wheels

Managed to get my hands on a set of FL5 wheels, but now I've got the decision of tire size. FL5 wheel specs: 19x9.5 ET60, 5x120 = perfect fit on FK8. My Type R is not lowered and will likely never be lowered due to winter here in Canada + general daily driving duties. 255/35 is about 0.8%...
  9. ExtremeContactSport 02, OEM Size

Anyone tried it out yet? Looks like a good replacement on the OEM 20" wheels versus the stock ContiProContacts, especially for daily driving. 245/30 R20 is available
  10. Enkei TS-V: 18x 8.5 ET38 or 9.5 ET40 ?

I've narrowed down my wheel hunt to the following for my summer wheel search: https://enkei.com/shop/wheels/tuning/ts-v/ The two size's available for the FK8 are: 18x8.5 ET38, tire size 245/40 R18 18x9.5 ET40, tire size 255/40 R18 Anyone have experience with this wheel/tire combo? I'm on...
  11. Anyone else thinking of the FL5's 19" wheels?

Assuming they don't cost unobtanium prices, is anyone else interested? 245/35 tires will fit the 9.5" wide tire with 0% speedo error, alongside the OEM ET60 offset.
  12. Cause of the 4th lockout: FK2/FK8 Shift Gate Design

With the FL5, Honda has updated the shift gate around 4th gear. I'm feeling this is the cause of the infamous 4th gear lockout. With more mileage, I think it gets worn to be more open, which is why most lockouts disappear after ~20 k miles From Honda's engineering log posted in FL5 forum...
  13. OTS Hondata + Daily Driving + Winter = ?????

Just a little check in with everyone for their reviews? Stock Type R. Used as a daily Used in temperatures ranging from -15F to 95F Plan to drive for next decade, then make into a track toy Using the OTS basic Honda Flashpro with no custom tuning, should I worry about anything or be good to...
  14. I'm assuming the OEM 20's would bend before the suspension

Long story short, hit a cataclysmic construction cover on the road and felt the wrath of the pothole gods. I was going to get the car looked at *just* in case....but surprisingly, my OEM 20" wheels are unbent. Can anyone with experience confirm that the wheels would yield way before anything...
  15. Factory Radio/Amp + Speaker Upgrade = ??????

Is it *safe* to keep the factory headhunt and amp, but just upgrade the centre dash/door/tweeters? I'm having a hard time finding the factory speaker impedances .... I have a 2020 Type R.
  16. Radio Long Start in hot weather ?

I’ve noticed a quirk with my radio. When I start the car in warmer temperatures ( 28C / 82.4F +) the radio does a restart/long boot. You know, when it cycles through the Honda logo? Im not sure if something is overheating or the battery is dying, or both
  17. 7 years after launch, how's the rust looking?

How are 2016 Civic's holding up after 7~ ish years since launch? Anyone from the Northeast/Ontario/Quebec noted any weak spots, or the rear fenders starting to curl up like older Honda's?
  18. Did Honda remove the centre jack points from the online owners manual?

I have the screen cap from a few years ago showing the centre jacking point on the CTR/hatch from the manual. When I go back and look at the Honda USA/Canada manuals for the CTR/hatch, its not there anymore. What gives?
  19. Is there really even a point to winter store these cars?

I've been having some philosophical, thoughts lately. After paying so much for a Type R, with all it's practicality and Honda reliability, should one even bother storing it in the winter? I've seen normal 2016 Civic sedans that haven't been cared for one bit that don't have an ounce of body...
  20. OEM Type R Dust Cover or OEM Honda Car Cover

Which one have you guys chosen? It looks like the "Dust Cover" has a premium on its price because of the fancy material and Type R badging. I'm going to be storing the car inside the garage, but we will have renovations going on in the house with lots of saw dust. Since it's in a garage I...
