i’m kind of stupid with electrical so i would not attempt something like that myself. but in theory a switch of this design would work right? with the added bonus of being able to install it on one of those blank buttons right above the obd port. could also add a fuel pump switch with the same exact type of switch, since the fuel pump has a fuse there.

There is no fuse specifically for the DLRs. They are controlled by the BCM (Body Control Module). Nor is there a way to shut just them only off. They are required to be on by federal law.
In the United States? I looked into it and in my state specifically they’re not required

They are required to be on by federal law.
True in Canada where they were invented—or at least first demonstrated to have a safety benefit. Not true in the US FMVSS.

only IL, ML, GA and MO have regulations requiring them in some situations
They may require headlights, as does, IIRC, FL in the rain, but that’s not the same as DRL which are not present on many US vehicles, are not even the same lights on many or most vehicles that do have them, e.g., Honda Civic, and, to the OP’s request, not separately controllable.
