Hello,

I was wondering what is the difference between the Civic Sport Hatch and the EX steering knuckles. I am looking to replace mine but I am not sure why the EX/LX have a different part number but there both using the 1.5T engine. Am I able to use the EX knuckles?

Civic sport/touring hatch: 51211-TGG-A01, 51216-TGG-A01

Civic ex/lx/ex-l hatch : 51216-TET-H00, 51211-TET-H00

for your year and door count. the lower arms, shocks, links, brakes, and tie rods are the same part numbers, the lower ball joints however are different part number. im not sure if they are different hole size, but if you get an ex/lx knuckle for your sport, you may want to get an lx/ex ball joint if it doesnt already come with it. they also may be same dimensions but good to have just in case.

The two differences I'm aware of are that the hole size for the strut is different and the balljoint stud size is also different.
all 2017/18 5dr civics have same part number strut including lx sensing, except lx non sensing, strut holes are same, ball joint hole is another story

Oh yeah big time, because the 5 door is made at another plant, almost all part numbers are different between 5 dr and the 2/4dr

Can anyone advise on this?

Are 51211-TGG-A01(51216-TGG-A01) and 51211-TET-H00(51216-TET-H00) interchangeable for all models?

i purchased 51220-FK7-010(Spoon's Ball Joint) and it doesn't fit into my front knuckles
https://www.blackhawkjapan.com/products/spoon-51220-fk7-010

i believe i have
https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~knuckle~r~fr~51211-tet-h00.html
that's fits with
https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~joint~fr~ball~lower~51220-tea-t01.html

But i need to change my front knuckles to

to fit with
https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~ball~joint~comp~l~51220-tba-a01.html or Spoon's 51220-FK7-010

EX model lower balljoint stud size is 12mm. Sport/touring model lower balljoint stud size is 14mm. I believe that is the only difference in the knuckles and can be interchangeable. When i was looking at sport knuckles i could only buy one side and the other was discontinued… not sure if its still like that or not.

Thanks for your insight,

I wonder if anyone else can confirm this, the front left knuckles are available on other online resellers right?

The Sport/Sport touring have a different turn radius and steering wheel stops than the LX/EX hatches. I wonder if this is a contributor?:hmm:

Didn’t noticed before you mentioned it. I think it might make me return then lower ball joints from spoon. I’ll stick with a smaller turning radius and not mess with the knuckles
